Parma have sacked Carlos Cuesta and appointed Alberto Gilardino, with Football Italia reporting that the new coach will make his debut against Inter at San Siro. CEO Federico Cherubini said the club decided to act during the international break rather than wait for a worse result.
Cherubini said Parma changed course after a 2-1 win over Genoa, describing it as fairer to split “when things were at least going relatively well.” The report also says Parma had taken one point from their previous four league games before the switch.
The move gives Gilardino an immediate test against Inter, while Parma frame the decision as part of a longer-term project that still has to balance competitiveness and sustainability.
