Football Italia reports that Massimiliano Allegri will include Scott McTominay in Napoli’s matchday squad for Saturday’s Serie A meeting with Frosinone, with the midfielder expected to be limited to 20-30 minutes from the bench. Allegri said in Friday’s press conference that McTominay is available after returning to full training on Wednesday.
The report says McTominay has not played for Napoli since the 2-1 defeat to Como on August 30, after a heart procedure on September 8 and a subsequent two-week rest period. The immediate footballing consequence is narrower than a full comeback: Napoli are being told to expect a managed return, not a starting role.
That also leaves his availability tied to a short substitute appearance rather than a full match load. Football Italia’s update does not establish any longer-term return date beyond Saturday’s squad inclusion.
What remains unconfirmed
- Whether McTominay actually takes the field against Frosinone.
- How quickly he can build back to full-match fitness after this cameo.
