Mikel Arteta has explained a summer tweak in Martin Odegaard’s usage after the Arsenal captain continued his strong start to the season, according to The Standard. Odegaard was named player of the match after scoring Arsenal’s only goal in a 1-0 Champions League win away at Napoli.
Arteta said Arsenal’s improved build-up play now allows Odegaard to stay higher up the pitch and attack different positions to unsettle opponents. The Arsenal manager said the midfielder is getting into more advanced areas and is playing with the confidence that his chances will go in.
Odegaard has also scored in the Community Shield and against Coventry and Chelsea in the Premier League, extending a strong run at the start of the campaign. Arteta said he will keep asking for more goals from the captain rather than setting a fixed target.
