Lee Clark has resigned as Hartlepool United head coach with immediate effect after Saturday’s home defeat by Worthing, BBC Sport reported. Clark told BBC Radio Tees: “I resign from my position with immediate effect.”
The 3-1 loss was Hartlepool’s third straight defeat and their sixth in seven National League matches, leaving them 18th before the afternoon kick-offs. Clark had only taken charge in the summer after a short spell with Rotherham United at the end of last season.
Hartlepool, taken over in January by American businessman Landon Smith, now begin the search for another permanent manager as they try to halt a four-year stay outside the English Football League.
