Portugal coach Jorge Jesus said Fernandes had played through pain against Wales and was not at his best, adding that the Manchester United captain had carried an injury from club duty. In the same report, Gakpo and Dorgu both had to leave their matches early on Sunday.
Gakpo went off after 17 minutes in the Netherlands’ 2-1 win over Serbia and is due to have a scan on Monday, while Dorgu lasted 30 minutes before limping off in Denmark’s 2-0 win over Wales.
