Cole Palmer inspired Chelsea’s comeback as The Guardian reported a 6-3 win over Leeds in the third round of the Carabao Cup at Stamford Bridge. Leeds had led 2-0 before Palmer’s penalty helped turn the tie.
Chelsea were said to have made nine changes and struggled badly early on, with the report noting a difficult debut for 16-year-old Reggie Watson and a half-time quadruple change by Xabi Alonso. The side then scored four times in 12 minutes to secure a place in the last 16.
Alonso told The Guardian: “I take responsibility.” In the report, he said the team’s decisions and limited time together made the performance hard to manage, rather than blaming individual players.
