The Guardian Football reports that Jarrad Branthwaite believes a summer rehabilitation programme in Munich helped him overcome the injury problems that had disrupted his career and earn a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad. The Everton defender said the work went beyond routine rehab and included movement-pattern and brain analysis.
Branthwaite had been limited to 10 Premier League appearances last season after repeated hamstring issues, and he was also carried off in tears in Everton’s Merseyside derby defeat by Liverpool in April. He said the club-managed programme over three or four weeks was designed to look at the “wider picture” of his body.
Almost Signed analysis: the practical consequence is that Branthwaite is back in the frame for England after a sustained spell of absence, with his early-season form and improved load management now supporting his selection chance. If used against Spain, Czechia or Croatia, it would be his second senior England appearance.
What remains unconfirmed
- Whether Branthwaite will be selected in any of the Nations League matches.
