Jonathan David’s reported move to Aston Villa did not become the transfer announced by Juventus. On September 1, Juventus confirmed a loan to Atlético Madrid until June 30, 2027, with an option to buy. This updates the Villa approach covered in the original August 12 article.
That earlier Football Italia report, citing journalist Marco Conterio, said Villa wanted a loan with an obligation to purchase. It described a proposed structure, without establishing an agreement or a price. The Villa link remains a separate historical route and should not be treated as confirmation of the subsequent Atlético deal.
Juventus’s financial statement says the Atlético loan carries no transfer fee. It sets an optional permanent purchase at €25 million, payable over four financial years. The option is not an obligation or a fee already paid, and a fee-free loan does not mean David was a free agent.
Atlético confirms that David joined from Juventus for the 2026–27 season and passed his medical. The Canada striker was 26 at the announcement. His new destination closes the earlier Villa link for this window; the reviewed announcements do not explain why that reported proposal went no further.
